ECOLOGICAL A DAY TO REPEAT

On April 25 members Mayunka ecological foundation of the city of Ipiales, members of the Association of Camp Verde and Verde community radio station Stereo Gualmatán and citizens interested in the issue of preservation, we went to the municipality of Gualmatán wasteland belonging to the star White Straw water in southern Nariño Department.
The aim of the conference was to appreciate the incomparable natural beauty of the area rich in biodiversity, especially of flora and a major source of water and oxygen production. But equally important to raise awareness about the problems facing this area and who lived the experience are the echo of many others. May the message of the need and commitment to protect life from preserving natural areas to expand rapidly, especially because ecosystems such as moorlands not expect more for their critical and complex situation.
Colombia two decades ago was known as the third richest country in the world's fresh water, but today we are at number 32. But we still have a lot of water fit for human consumption, it is estimated that each person has 50,000 cubic meters of fresh water, Colombia also boasts two million hectares of floodplain and more than 2.5 million acres of wetlands. But unless we take immediate steps we can stay without water, because they are drying up the streams and fountains daily, and the rivers are dying from pollution and lack of flow by the advance of deforestation and increasing demand especially high resource for agriculture.

There municipalities declared emergencies because their sources completely dried up supplying the vital liquid, resulting from the mismanagement of natural resources by apathy, myopia and lack of vision of their rulers and leaders, but also by the lack of interest and involvement of user communities.
of Nariño in the south there is a disturbing case that the community radio station Stereo Verde has been reporting for 13 years, and has to do with the situation of the "Isla Blanca Straw Páramo, a wetland system cut off from the deserts of the Andes, making it highly vulnerable to the advance of agricultural frontier on all sides. Currently supplies 44 aqueducts and various irrigation systems for 10 municipalities in the region, according to a study conducted in 2007 by Corponariño, in the last 10 years, the deforestation of native forest and forest that surround and protect the wilderness has been about quarter, which represents 1,134 hectares. You could say that the rate of deforestation is 113 hectares per year, a figure outrageous considering that the area's remaining natural forest, forest and moor amounted to 2007 hectares only 3.636.22.
If we with the rate of deforestation in 25 to 30 years there will be a single hectare of wasteland and will have to be a beautiful story of the grandparents to future generations, but more serious is that we will not have water for human consumption and even less for agriculture and livestock.
Currently working on the Declaration of the Regional Natural Park of the moor White Straw, who is primarily a document providing a legal and complete the proper administration of this star water. Also this wasteland has been declared a strategic area for biodiversity conservation within the Biodiversity Action Plan of the Department of Nariño 2006 to 2030.
Mr José Eusebio Vallejo, presdiente JAC. Nariño Gualmatán Central
However many diagnosis, document protection rules and laws are tools that are useful only if they apply and depend on the respective authorities to assume their duties fully, apart from laziness, corruption and politicking among other ills that have sickened more natural environment that our days are numbered, which urges institutions and citizens with honest discourse and effective actions and committed to the heath and life itself in our region.
CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE PARTNERS IN THE DAY PROFESSOR MILTON ROSERO
"The Gualmatán moor is beautiful, there is a more of God's creations, is to commune with nature and must appreciate and thank the creator for giving us these spaces and these moments of life that gives us to see these havens.
if I ask everyone to raise awareness of caring for our water, so take care not to dump garbage, plastics, styrofoam, which are destructible, are not biodegradable. Today up to buy bread or any product using plastic bags, and all this is poisoning our water and our rivers. We believe that by burning plastics are ridding ourselves of them and that is a mistake because these molecules are polluting the atmosphere and destroying the ozone. " GOMES
GIRL VALENTINA "It was very pretty and unforgettable wilderness, something that raises awareness to keep the short, the care and use everything that God has given us, and that lasts for long. My message is do not spend resources unnecessarily because of them depend the lives of thousands of people.
SR. ALVARO URREGO "It's extraordinary what has been experienced in this ecological tour, but also important to appreciate the beauty is that citizenship should be organized, there is a citizenship, because that is what should and can save these places as beautiful, otherwise the wilderness will be over in less than 10 years, must be defended from now, we have to defend the money of the state and require governmental entities to do what they have to do, to develop what is required by law.
If citizenship is required to organize and municipal governments, regional, national, natural areas that are strategic to human welfare can be saved, but the idea is to be in legal before authorities that govern us. " DORIS
OBANDO-MAYUNKA
"I thank Verde Campo Verde and Stereo for the invitation in this dream of meeting our landscapes, our wilderness, appropriating them and defend them tooth and nail, because this is a legacy that should last for eternity and not 10 or 20 years.
This is a water source that can not die, we must strengthen public awareness, this has to be an experience multiplier for people to come look, observe, reflect and discuss your policies, raise their problems and priorities, because it does not we let it end, this natural wealth is something we leave the children and our children's children, We can not let just pavement. "
"Thanks for inviting me to this unforgettable experience, the scenery is beautiful, but also the expectations of these seeds that we sow today, these small mustard seeds that we hope will emerge a major project that benefits the communities that are pushing in all the environmental services offered by these ecosystems, especially water.
is a big dream a life plan that is designed to support the foundation Mayunka Sheetl conservation processes throughout the Department. The idea is to invite people to know these landscapes, which appropriates them and make sustainable use of natural resources, but until we know the source of the water, where carbon capture, which produces oxygen, it is difficult environmental education to bring awareness to protect these ecosystems "
"has caused much admiration I realize where the water is born, is my first time here and I'm excited. It is important keep this cushion of water, all users must become conscious of the wetlands and that all people come up to watch over and visit with respect. "
SRA. Bernarda Moran, President JAC.
ARRAYÁN BARRIO "This area naturally look more conservative than before, now is clean, not deforested, but not the same on the slopes because it is deforested for agriculture and livestock. However, the problem is not as severe as in the neighboring municipality of pupils who have come up with roads to the area destroying much more natural.
our future and most of all of our children is to preserve nature today, we must all work together in one form or another, but acting without waiting for more, not deforested, not pollute, save water, electricity, etc.. "
"thanks to Stereo and Mayunka Verde is a beautiful experience, thanks to our Father God for all the beauty that nature created as is and that we must cultivate and care. What most impressed me is the water tank and must unite to preserve this wealth to last for neutral children and grandchildren. "
SR. RICARDO PATINO
I always been interested in issues ecological and why we are a presence in this activity, I think is one of the ways in which citizens can protect nature, we are watching how resources are being depleted, is a global problem, and we are seeing what is contributing.
I propose that people who have participated today can change in attitude, we can change our bad habits, especially waste water and become multipliers from our families and neighbors of this ecological vision.
What does a mayor, a political leader, which makes the human being in an area without water, plant resources, would be totally unworkable any life project so we must be aware and act now to protect nature.
